South Korean artist IU takes flight like spores in “Holssi” music video released on Friday, February 16.

The YouTube description stated that the new track based on Hip-Hop and R&B with a heavy drum and bass showcases the versatility of IU’s voice that oscillates from the flexibility of an R&B singer, a confident rapper, and the simplicity of singing children’s songs.

IU said that when she produced her first album “CHAT-SHIRE” during her 20s, she thought of herself as a flower that would someday bloom but it changed now that she’s in her 30s.

“I, in my 30s, who realized that there is no reason or need for everyone in the world to become a flower, wants to live as a seed fluttering alone in the sky,” she wrote in an English translation of her caption in Korean.

“Like a tireless shopper, I want to wander aimlessly, scrolling through the various options displayed all over my world and putting them in my cart,” she added.

The music video shows that being a spore means blossoming “in the sky by all means” and “setting out on a different road” where she can fly even without wings.

“Holssi” is part of her upcoming mini album “The Winning.”
