Issa Pressman revealed that she reached out to Nadine Lustre before she and James Reid confirmed their relationship, saying she wanted to show respect for Reid and Lustre’s past.
Pressman recalled that she sent Lustre a message before she and Reid went public as a couple.
“Before we went out in public, I messaged Nadine. Of course, out of respect for them, I told her, ‘We started dating. I really want to see where this is gonna go,” she said. She added that Lustre responded kindly, calling the past “a lifetime ago” and wishing them well.
With that reassurance, Pressman said she and Reid felt comfortable being seen together, including during an outing at a Harry Styles concert. Still, she noted that online criticism quickly resurfaced.
Pressman had long faced accusations of being a third party in Reid and Lustre’s 2020 breakup—claims she denied.
She stressed that Reid had been single for two years and had dated someone else before their relationship began. Reid and Pressman eventually confirmed their romance in 2023.
She also spoke about the mental and emotional toll of the cyberbullying she experienced, saying it deeply affected her well-being and strained her relationship.
“I gave up so many times. I tried to leave so many times,” she said, adding that Reid consistently stood by her.
“He never really left, no matter how ugly it got. It made us so much stronger. The more they pulled us apart, the closer we got.”
