The Iriga City Police Prosecution Office dismissed the case of Radyo Natin Reporter who was arrested and detained after opening a police blotter report.
According to the decision of Associate City Prosecutor Leodegario Serrano Jr., no probable cause was found to charge Jose Rizal ‘Joeriz’ Pajares with violating the Data Privacy Act.
The Iriga Police were instructed to conduct a seminar for the media regarding their policies to avoid repetition of the incident.
The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas-CamSur Chapter was delighted by the dismissal of Pajares’ case.
It can be recalled that the Iriga Police directly hand-covered Pajares and detained him for three days in prison for allegedly violating the data confidentiality and safety protocols when he opened the police blotter report.
