On Tuesday, the U.S. State Department confirmed that Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles targeting various locations in Israel.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the United States swiftly came to Israel’s defense in response to this aggression.

"Starting around 12:30 Eastern time today, Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles against a number of targets in Israel," Miller reported.

"The United States once again came to Israel's defense against these attacks, just as we participated in Israel's defense during the April 13th incident," he added.

Miller noted that initial assessments indicated that Israel, with direct assistance from the U.S. and its allies, was able to successfully counter this missile attack. He labeled the assault as "a brazen, unacceptable attack by Iran" and called on nations worldwide to join the U.S. in condemning it.

Throughout the unfolding events, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other key members of the national security team closely monitored the situation.

"The President has made clear that our support for Israel's security is ironclad," Miller emphasized.

"We will continue to stand with the people of Israel at this critical moment."

The tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated over the years, with both nations accusing each other of hostile actions and military threats.

The U.S. has consistently supported Israel, viewing its security as crucial to regional stability.
