The long wait is over as Aliwan Fiesta finally introduced its three-day event this week through Inside Aliwan’s first episode called “The Sound of Aliwan.”
Hosted by DJ Rico Panyero of Yes the Best and Dj Shai of Easy Rock, Aliwan Fiesta's grand preparation has been unveiled through Mr. Johnny ‘Ivan’ Quiling, the Production Head of Aliwan.
“As early as mid last year, of course, ganon naman ang MBC, MBC would really think it over, revisit, evaluate and, because of the pandemic and all as early as mid last year, we were discussing it already,” said Quiling.
Quiling detailed the preparations following the fact that the Aliwan Fiesta had not happened for three years.
“We wanted to be sure that we'd be in touch with everybody, our suppliers, yung ruta and all,” he said.
“It all has a boiled out-you know- a lot of meetings, a lot of evaluations, a lot of what if’s. Pero again, we’re here, so tuloy na tuloy na,” he added.
According to Quilling, one of the difficulties they faced was trying to decide on key issues such as places to revisit, routes for the parade, and other things to consider.
“Now confided along CCP, dati we’d hold it start in Quirino Grandstand reverse the entire Roxas South warn and then end here in Aliw. But because of a lot of things, there's construction ongoing, and as much as we want to, we decided na."
Quilling assured that the three-day Fiesta would have the same excitement, surprises, and prizes as in previous years.
Meanwhile, the concert as the first day event of the Fiesta will happen on July 13, 2023, which, according to Quilling entitled “Bente Naman Jam Pasakalye Concert” reflects the 20th year of Aliwan Fiesta.
“It is the jump-off, it is the kickoff. It sets the tone of the entire three-day fiesta,” it noted.
Other guests were also revealed for the first-day event including Old Fantasy, Imago, Gracenote, Hey June, and Sunkissed Lola.
“Ang MBC kasi ganyan eh, we start strong and we end stronger-if there’s something I am proud of at this point, at this juncture, we’re doing it on our own, pero syempre nandyan ang challenges at nandyan yung support parin ng mga ibang kaibigan natin,” said the Production head.
“And we have a very very supportive, dependable team and supportive management,” it added.
The Reyna ng Aliwan will take place on the second day after the opening day, followed by the street dance and float competition on the third day.
The music, culture, heritage, extravagant crafts, and beauty, will be seen on July 13-15 along the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) grounds, in Pasay City, Manila.
