Voice actor and content creator Inka Magnaye raised concerns over the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on artists and creatives after her mother reportedly lost a voice-over job to AI.

Magnaye shared a screenshot of her mother’s message saying, “I just lost a voice over job to AI,” and said the client was a major brand, although she chose not to identify the company.

While acknowledging that businesses make decisions based on their interests, Magnaye urged companies and consumers to consider how spending choices affect human creatives.

“AI is a tool, but ethically should never be used to replace human talent,” Magnaye said.

She questioned whether companies want a future where AI-generated content takes opportunities away from artists, arguing that AI-generated voice-overs, art, and music lack the qualities of human creativity.

Magnaye also encouraged brands looking for voice-over talent to consider her mother, adding that her mother’s schedule had been freed up after losing the job.
