Informants who assisted the Philippine National Police (PNP) to confiscate 575 kilos of shabu worth P4 billion in Baguio City earlier this week received P4 million in cash rewards yesterday.
Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police, presided over the ceremonial handover of the cash reward at Camp Crame.
Azurin displayed the cash, but the tipsters were not shown to the media.
He said that it was decided not to present the informants for their safety, citing a subsequent operation against other people involved in the drug haul and stating that the cash incentive is the largest that the PNP has given to informants this year.
Hui Ming, alias Tan, a Chinese national, was apprehended during a raid on a rented warehouse where the illegal drugs were discovered.
Meanwhile, three drug suspects were recently killed in a sting in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao office.
According to the PDEA, Henrylle Go and Deovern Uy died at the scene, while Aramina Hizon died in the hospital.
