Tropical Depression Ineng has kept its strength while traveling westward at a slow pace, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday.

At 10 AM, PAGASA said it tracked the center of Ineng at 975 kilometers (km) East of Extreme Northern Luzon

The tropical depression is packed with 45 km per hour (kph) winds and 55 kph gusts and is slowly accelerating in a westward direction.

The state weather bureau has not hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) as it forecasted that Ineng will not directly affect any parts of the country.

PAGASA forecasted that Ineng will depart the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday evening or Wednesday evening as a tropical storm and eventually head towards the waters south of mainland Japan.

Southwest monsoon

The southwest monsoon, slightly enhanced by Ineng and Tropical Storm Haikui, will still bring occasional monsoon rains over the western portions of Luzon in the next three days.

According to PAGASA's 11 AM weather advisory for southwest monsoon, Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet will experience 50 to 100 millimeters (mm) of rainfall today, while Zambales and Bataan will have 100 to 200 mm of rainfall.
