Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in the country on Tuesday evening, January 9, for his three-day official visit.

In a news release, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Widodo's plane landed at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City at 8:05 PM.

He was reportedly welcomed by Presidential Adviser on Peace Carlito Galvez, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina Jamoralin, and other officials.

PCO said Widodo is expected to pay a visit to Malacañang Palace on Wednesday, January 10, for his scheduled bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.

Last week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that the Indonesian president would embark on a official visit in the Philippines from January 9 to January 11.

According to DFA, Widodo's meeting with Marcos would focus on bilateral relations, reaffirming their commitment to deepen and expand Philippines-Indonesia ties.

The case of Mary Jane Veloso, an overseas Filipino worker facing death row for almost 14 years, was said to be discussed also.
