The Rain or Shine Elastopainters will bring in an import to reinforce the squad in the upcoming 2023 William Jones Cup in Taiwan.
Elastopainters head coach Yeng Guiao revealed on Tuesday, August 1, that 6'10 American player Nick Evans will also join the team for the tournament that will run from August 12 to August 20.
Guiao said that Evans and naturalized player Ange Kouame will address the lack of height in the line-up of Rain or Shine.
"Nakita namin yung line-up, pinadala yung line-up ng teams and yung makakalaban natin doon, medyo malakas yung competition kaya management decided to bring in another import," Guiao said during the Philippine Sportswriters' Association forum.
Guiao said that Evans will arrive in the Philippines during the weekends, and begin practicing with the Elastopainters on Monday, August 7.
The William Jones Cup makes a comeback after the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic shelved the annual basketball tournament for three years.
In the previous edition of the William Jones Cup in 2019, Mighty Sports won the title for the Philippines.
