The Department of Transportation (DOTr) postponed the implementation of the revised toll expressway guidelines by one month.
This follows the upcoming implementation of Joint Memorandum Circular 2024-001, which outlines the revised guidelines for all vehicles traveling on toll expressways.
Under the mentioned memorandum, motorists without a valid electronic toll collection device, such as an RFID, will be fined.
Under the mentioned guidelines, all motorists without a valid electronic toll collection device, such as an RFID, as well as those with insufficient RFID loads, will be fined.
Based from the initial notice from the DOTr, the order was supposed to be enforced this coming Saturday, August 31, but its implementation has now been postponed until October 1.
The new guidelines aim to speed up traffic at toll plazas by reducing delays caused by vehicles without RFID tags or with insufficient RFID load. This will help minimize long queues and improve overall traffic efficiency.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista explained that the postponement is meant to allow tollgate operators to carry out an extensive information campaign and ensure that motorists are aware of the updated guidelines.
