Imelda Marcos, former first lady and mother to President Fedinand Marcos Jr., is currently recovering from a "successful" angioplasty over the weekend, her daughter Senator Imee Marcos said Thursday.

"My mother Mrs. Imelda R. Marcos underwent a successful angioplasty last May 7 at St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City Imee said in a message to reporters.

"[She] is recovering well and will be sent home this week," she added.

In March, rumors of the Marcos matriarch's death first surfaced on Twitter, with the keyword 'Imelda Marcos' trending. However, her niece Eliza Romualdez-Valtos denied the rumors.
