The political party of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. debunked rumors that his sister Sen. Imee Marcos will run as mayor in Manila in the upcoming 2025 elections.
Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) Secretary General Thompson Lantion confirmed on Friday, May 3, that Sen. Marcos will seek to extend her term in Senate in the mid-term polls.
"Nung nagpulong kami sa kanyang bahay, sa San Juan residences, yung kanilang ancestral home, sabi ni Madame, Senator Imee ay senator ang tatakbuhin niya," Lantion said during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.
Lantion also revealed that former Senate President Vincente 'Tito' Sotto III also plan to seek re-election as senator in the upcoming elections.
The PFP official admitted that they plan to include Sotto in their senatorial slate, and seeks an alliance with his party, the Nationalist People's Coalition.
Lantion also admitted that PFP wants to include Sen. Marcos, a member of the Nacionalista Party, to their senatorial slate.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) set the filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2025 elections to start run from October 1 until October 8.
