Senator Imee Marcos on Wednesday, Nov. 14, said that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has no jurisdiction over any Filipinos, especially over former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte or also called as PRRD.
In a statement posted on her official Facebook page, Marcos said the the release of former Senator and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima was a testament that the independence of the Philippine Judiciary "is present and true."
"Our court is a court of law and justice, oblivious of personalities or any political noise, It bolsters my position mula simula pa, that the ICC has no jurisdiction over any Filipino lalo na kay PRRD," she said.
The Senator also underscored that the chamber "has no business meddling" with the Philippine Justice system.
In July this year, ICC rejected an attempt by the Philippines to block an investigation into the bloody anti-narcotics campaign or drug war during the Duterte administration.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Senator said that his brother, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., did not interfere in the ruling over de Lima's case.
“Walang kinalaman si PBBM sa anumang kaso. Kahit sino man hindi maaring makialam sa judiciary, lets protect their independence,” she said.
“Ang kasarinlan ng hudikatura ay totoo at kasalukuyang umiiral. Ang ating korte ay isang korte ng batas at katarungan, walang kinalaman o kinikilingan sa mga personalidad o anumang ingay sa pulitika,” the presidential sister added.
