The Department of Labor and Employment announced an increase in the minimum wage of Ilocos Region.

Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) - Ilocos Region motu proprio issued Wage Order No. RB 1-23 that grants a Php 33 daily minimum wage increase across all sectors.

The wage order raises the daily minimum wages in Ilocos Region to Php 468 for the non-agriculture sector employing 10 or more employees, and Php 435.00 for the non-agriculture sector employing less than 10 employees and agriculture sector.

RTWPB- Ilocos Region also motu proprio issued Wage Order No. RB 1-DW-05 that brings the monthly minimum wage of household workers up to Php 6,000 from Php 5,500.

"The wage order is expected to directly benefit 170,143 minimum wage earners and about 349,112 full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum wage may also indirectly benefit as a result of upward adjustments at the enterprise level arising from the correction of wage distortion," DOLE said on Monday, October 21, in a press release.

"On the other hand, the wage increase for kasambahays is also expected to benefit a total of 99,024 domestic workers – approximately 9% (9,104) of whom are on live-in arrangements," the department added.

The wage hike will take effect on November 7.
