ICI nears completion of flood control anomaly cases, says special adviser

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is close to completing all cases under its review, according to ICI Special Adviser Rodolfo Azurin Jr.

In a report by Jecelle Ricafort, Azurin addressed reports that the commission may soon be dissolved, saying the ICI continues to perform its mandate and remains ready to act on any additional information related to the cases it is investigating.

Azurin said work at the commission is ongoing, with both he and ICI Chairman Andy Reyes still reporting to the office. However, he acknowledged that the commission’s full operations can no longer continue as intended since only one commissioner remains.

The ICI is also preparing to submit a consolidated report to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. detailing the commission’s accomplishments since its establishment on September 11, 2025. The report is expected to serve as a guide for determining the commission’s next steps.

Earlier, President Marcos said the commission’s mandate is nearing its end after it had already investigated the key issues surrounding the alleged flood control project anomalies. He added that the continuation of the ICI would depend on the amount of remaining work.

Once the ICI completes its investigation, any further action on the cases will be handled by the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman, the President said.
