The mystical bird known in Filipino folklore, the Ibong Adarna, has been spotted in Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Davao proudly showcased this discovery on its official Facebook page.

"Yes, it's the "Ibong Adarna" but no, not in the Kingdom of Berbania. This strikingly beautiful bird was captured in the tropical forest of Mt. Apo," DENR Davao stated.

According to the agency, the bird with captivating colors is the "Philippine Trogon."

Male Philippine Trogons display vibrant hues, while females possess a gentle mustard-yellow underbelly and an olive-brown head. They feed on insects and fruits and reside in tree hollows.

These birds are elusive to humans and prefer the darker parts of the forest, where they find contentment. Natively found in the country, these long-tailed birds are associated with the renowned legend of the "Ibong Adarna."

"Please help protect and preserve these legends," the DENR Davao emphasized, appealing to the public to ensure the safeguarding of these extraordinary creatures.
