Huge chance for in-person classes for all schools next academic year — DepEd
by John Dexter Tilo28 February 2022

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday said there is a huge possibility that all schools across the country will implement face-to-face classes starting next academic year.

DepEd Assistant Secertary Malcolm Garma said this could happen if the country's good situation with COVID-19 does not change.

"Malaki po ang posibilidad na lahat ng paaralan sa buong Pilipinas ay magkakaroon na ng limited face to face," he told DZRH in a statement.

However, he said that returning to face-to-face classes will see the same arrangement before the pandemic, stressing that in-person classes will be limited.

"Hindi po natin pwedeng masabing todo dahil sabi nga natin limited po 'yung face to face natin. So ibig sabihin hindi po ito katulad noong mga nakaraan, bago mag-COVID na ang mga bata araw-araw pumapasok sa paaralan," he said.

(We cannot go all out because as we said our face to face is limited. This means this is not the same in the past, before COVID where all children go to school every day.)

"May limitasyon na 'yung ating ginagawa in-school classes," he added.

The country has begun reopening schools since January to implement the expanded phase of limited face-to-face classes as long as they are under Alert Level 1 or 2 and have been granted permission by their local government unit.
