The Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG) also deployed personnel to assist Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcers along EDSA and other roads in Metro Manila during the holiday season.
PBGen. William Segun, Chief of PNP-HPG, told DZRH News that 60 police personnel were stationed in strategic areas where vehicle congestion is often observed, especially during the holidays.
Moreover, in a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was mentioned that the HPG will operate in two shifts, divided from morning until around 10 PM.
According to Segun, the police will not only be stationed on major roads but will also be deployed to Mabuhay Lanes if further assistance is needed by the MMDA.
A holiday outpost has been set up by the PNP-HPG in Ortigas, and an MMDA traffic aide mentioned that since their deployment in December, both traffic enforcers and passengers have felt more secure, especially with the anticipated influx of people in crowded areas like malls and terminals in Mandaluyong City.

MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes stated earlier that close to half a million vehicles traverse EDSA daily, and this figure is expected to grow even more during the holiday season.
