Three lawmakers filed a resolution proposing to relocate the House of Representatives to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City, where the new building of the Senate is presently being constructed.

Under House Resolution No. (HRN) 1390 dated Oct. 17 but released only on Nov. 6, Congressman Luis Raymund 'LRay' Villafuerte Jr., Aurelio 'Dong' Gonzales Jr., and David 'Jay-Jay' Suarez urged House to create an Ad Hoc Committee "tasked to conduct and study the construction of a new House of Representatives Building and the relocation of the House of Representatives thereto."

"The House of Representatives should likewise consider transferring to the same area, near the Senate, for better communication and coordination of legislative work," they said.

"Both the House and Senate used to share space, before the war, in the Legislative Building, which was the origin of the term "upper house" and "lower house" where the Senate had its session hall at the second floor, while the House had its session hall on the ground floor," the solons continued.

According Villafuerte, Gonzales, and Suarez, the House should consider a place where legislators, employees, and guests have access to "efficient transportation options including buses, shuttles, and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) system, excellent connectivity to major thoroughfares, airport, and other key areas in Metro Manila."

"Proximity to other government agencies, multinational corporations leading local businesses, and tech startups, should also be taken into account for different sorts of Filipinos from every walk of life," they added.

The solons mentioned that the source of funds for the proposed site and building construction of the House of Representatives "should be considered."

"The new building, as far as the budget may allow, be iconic and one that we can be proud of, a modern infrastructure that respects green spaces, vibrant, forward-thinking but still uniquely Filipino," they furthered.
