House to not turn down impeachment complaint vs. VP Sara - Romualdez
by Mary Antalan19 December 2023

House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Tuesday, Dec. 19, said that they would not turn down an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In an exclusive interview during DZRH Dos Por Dos, Romuldez noted that any impeachment complaint against the Vice President would undergo processes.

"Tayo naman, we just prepare. We always entertain kasi demokrasya 'yan. I think naman dyan, we should give and syempre binabasa natin, syempre may proseso naman 'yan," he said.

According to the House Speaker, no complaint has been filed against the Vice President yet.

"Wala kaming plano. Wala pang nakalatag na complaints, kaya wala pa. Bakit naman ginagawan ng isyu? Mayroong ibang mga Makabyan bloc, mga statements, pero wala pa namang fina-file," Romualdez said.

The impeachment complaint first surfaced following the Office of the Vice President's controversial ₱125 million in confidential and intelligence funds in 2022.

ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro said earlier that the "Makabayan bloc think that impeachment talks now are still premature but it it highlights the growing rift in the supposed UniTeam."

In November, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. said Duterte, his ally, "does not deserve to be impeached."

According to the President, impeachment talks are "not particularly unusual" and "not worrisome," as every top government official receives them.
