On Thursday, the House of Representatives started organizing relief operations for flood victims in Metro Manila, especially in Marikina City, due to Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.

According to House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias ‘Ponyong’ Gabonada, they have prepared an initial 20,000 food packs and other forms of aid using funds from the Speaker's Disaster Relief Fund.
Gabonada stated that the delivery of food and other relief packs is ongoing, not only in Marikina City but also in other flooded areas in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Previously, House Speaker Martin Romualdez ordered the convening of the House Committee on Metro Manila Development (CMMD), chaired by Congressman Rolan Valeriano, on July 31 to assess the impact of the widespread flooding in various areas of Metro Manila.
Officials from various government agencies will attend the CMMD meeting next week.
