Japan Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will be addressing the Senate and the House of Representatives in a special joint session on Saturday, Nov. 4
In a joint statement released Wednesday, Nov. 1, the Senate and the House of Representatives extended their warmest welcome to Fumio, who will hold an official visit in the Philippines on Nov. 3 and 4.
“Prime Minister Kishida has been invited to address the Congress of the Republic of the Philippines in a Special Joint Session on Nov. 4, 2023 at 11:00 in the morning,” they said.
The two chambers of Congress said they expect that the discussion “will pave the way for greater collaboration in building a more secure and prosperous future” for Filipinos.

They touted that the Philippines and Japan “have built a strong and enduring relationship over the past few decades” as “close friends and strategic partners."
“Bilateral ties between our countries are rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a common commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region,” the House and Senate added.
The Congress said they have sincere appreciation for Kishida and wished that he would have “a fruitful visit” to the country.
On Monday, Oct. 30, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced that the Japan Prime Minister will visit the country “to reaffirm the close ties between the Philippines and Japan.”
In a statement, PCO said Kishida will meet President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. to discuss areas of mutual concern about “political, security, economic, development cooperation, people-to-people tires” as well as “regional and international issues.”
