On Tuesday, the House of Representatives released the allocated budget for the victims of Typhoon Julian.

The relief efforts for people in affected areas were spearheaded by the House, in partnership with Tingog Partylist and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Php25 million worth of relief goods were allotted for the affected citizens, including Php100 million worth of cash aid to affected families.

The release of the cash aid for each district was funded under the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).

“Through AKAP, we aim to provide immediate cash assistance to help families get back on their feet,” House Speaker Ferdinand Romualdez said.

Aside from the cash aid, officials will also provide 5,000 relief packs per district, containing essential goods like food and water. All these will be distributed to each affected district and were sourced from the House Speaker’s personal calamity fund.

House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias “Ponyong” Gabonada Jr. assured the public on the current preparation for its delivery and distribution to affected families.

“We have mobilized resources to deliver these relief packs as fast as we can. We understand the urgency of the situation and are working closely with local authorities to ensure that every family affected by Typhoon Julian receives help,” Romualdez said.

PAGASA reported on Tuesday, October 1, that Typhoon Julian intensified, raising signal number 2 in several areas in the country.
