House Bill No. 6933, which designates Pampanga as the 'Christmas Capital' of the Philippines, has been approved on its third and final reading in the House of Representatives.

Leading the effort were Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Pampanga 3rd District Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr., garnering nearly 250 votes in favor of the bill.

According to Rep. Gonzales, this declaration is expected to further boost Pampanga's local economy and promote tourism in the region.

Lawmakers cited the region's renowned craftsmanship during the holiday season, including its Christmas decorations and attractions, as the basis for this designation.

The proposed law also assigns the Department of Tourism to highlight Pampanga in national and local promotions under Section 2.

One of the well-known holiday events in the province is the 'Giant Lantern Festival' or 'Ligligan Parul,' celebrated annually in December.
