The leadership of the House of Representatives has been challenged to first “clean its own ranks” to gain moral authority before taking on any new impeachment proceedings.

Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco criticized the House leadership, noting that since Rep. Faustino "Bojie" Dy III became Speaker, only one House leader has been replaced, with many officials from the previous leadership still holding key posts.

Tiangco also questioned why criticism appears louder against Vice President Sara Duterte, while other issues and personalities are met with less scrutiny.

In response, House Deputy Minority Leader Antonio Tiñio hit back at Tiangco for refusing to sign a possible new impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

Tiangco earlier argued that he would not support an impeachment move against Duterte while no major figures have been charged in connection with the flood control controversy.

Tiñio countered that such reasoning mirrors arguments used by what he called “rabid DDS supporters,” who, he said, use the flood control issue to defend the Vice President.

He added that unresolved cases elsewhere should not mean ignoring alleged corruption issues, stressing that the accusations facing the Vice President are far from minor.
