The House of Representatives has officially opened its doors to the public as it begins a nationwide series of consultations on the proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Act.

The initiative aims to gather input from citizens across the country to ensure the legislation reflects the will of the people.

The first regional hearing was held in Carmona City, Cavite, drawing over 1,500 participants, including youth representatives, barangay officials, and members of non-government organizations. Key issues discussed included the scope of prohibited familial relationships in government and which positions should have restrictions to prevent political monopolies.

Representative Zia Alonto Adiong, chair of the House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reform, emphasized that sovereignty belongs to the people, and their voices must be heard before any law is finalized. House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III added that it is Congress’s duty to consider the diverse experiences, perspectives, and concerns of Filipinos nationwide.

Currently, there are 24 separate bills filed in the House seeking to limit the succession of relatives in government positions. Speaker Dy stressed that the consultations aim to ensure the resulting legislation is fair, curbs the dominance of well-known political families, and provides opportunities for a broader range of citizens to serve.
