With 284 votes in the affirmative, eight opposed, and four abstentions, the House plenary on Tuesday approved the House Committee on Justice’s recommendation declaring both impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. insufficient in substance.

“With 284 members voting on the affirmative, eight against, four abstentions, House Resolution No. 746, as well as the findings, conclusions, and recommendations contained in Committee report 111, are hereby adopted. The impeachment complaints filed against the President, Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., are hereby dismissed,” Iloilo 1st District Rep. Janette Garin declared.

Representatives of large political parties such as Lakas-CMD, Nacionalist People’s Coalition, and the National Unity Party (NUP) affirmed their support for the committee report, according to RH 12 Milky Rigonan.

Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro read the contents of the report as chair of the House Committee on Justice. She assured that each allegation contained in the impeachment complaints were thoroughly examined by the members of the committee.

Based on the House rules, the plenary is required to vote on the report despite the committee declaring the two impeachment complaints insufficient in substance.

In her manifestation, Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima said that the scrapping of the impeachment complaints has been done prematurely, as the evidence presented was not carefully probed.

As for Vice President Sara Duterte, who also faces impeachment complaints, a third complaint has been officially filed against her at the Office of the Secretary General on Monday.
