The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability is set to conclude its investigation into the P612.5-million confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua stated that the House panel will convene today to finalize the investigation, should the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte progress.
He further mentioned that due to the two impeachment complaints, with another expected to be filed, the committee has decided to wrap up the investigation.
According to Chua, should the impeachment process advance, they will leave it to the Vice President to explain how the confidential funds were managed and utilized in the impeachment hearings.
The committee had considered calling in Duterte's two security details who received confidential funds, but they decided not to proceed as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is already investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the committee conducted seven hearings, revealing the alleged misuse of confidential funds in government agencies under Duterte's leadership.
Among these is the P125-million confidential fund, which was spent within only 11 days.
