The House Infrastructure Committee approved Akbayan Partylist Rep. Chel Diokno’s motion for the joint committee to make a full disclosure of their financial and pecuniary interests.
“The motion, Mr. Chair, is for all the members of the three committees to make a full disclosure of their financial business and pecuniary interests that may be directly or indirectly affected by any investigation into the government’s past or present flood control projects,” Diokno motioned during the joint committee’s hearing on Tuesday, September 2.
The motion was thoroughly discussed during the hearing, with Sorsogon 2nd District Rep. Wowo Fortes clarifying how the committee should go about the motion.
In response, House Infra Comm co-Chair Terry Ridon said they would require a written disclosure undertaking that there is no conflict of interest for any member relating to any subject in their inquiry.
The written disclosure will be submitted to each member’s respective committee within five working days.
Meanwhile, the joint committee issued a subpoena against five of the 16 contractors who skipped the hearing.
