The House of Representatives formed an impeachment Secretariat to aid its 11-man prosecution team in Vice President (VP) Sara Duterte-Carpio’s impeachment trial.
A report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan stated that the impeachment Secretariat would provide technical and administrative support to the House prosecutors. This was indicated in the Memorandum Order 19-1006, released by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco.
The House Secretary General said the impeachment Secretariat would help with logistical, research, and documentation support for the House prosecution team.
The impeachment Secretariat will consist of the following:
- Office of the Secretary General (OSG)
- Office of the Sergeant at Arms
- Legislative Operations Department
- Legal Affairs Department
Other relevant units from the House of Representatives would also partake in.
The assigned officials and employees have to abide by the strict rules and ethical guidelines from Congress. Velasco said that all personnel assigned to the Senate need to record their attendance and are ordered to have designated HousePass monitoring systems, to ensure accountability from them.
