The House of Representatives is confident that there will be no "reenacted budget" for 2024 following the end of budget deliberations at the committee level for the proposed P5.768 trillion national budget.

According to Congresswoman Stella Quimbo, the senior vice chairman of the House Committee of Appropriations, based on the House’s schedule, they are "on target" as they began the deliberation on August 10 and finished on Wednesday, September 13.

Moreover, she added that the plenary debates are expected to start on September 19 and end on September 27.

Quimbo also explained that House Speaker Martin Romualdez strictly instructed that the priority was to complete the deliberation "on time" and without any delay.

In the budget deliberations, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) took the longest, reaching more than twelve hours, while the congressmen questioned the Department of Energy (DOE) in five rounds.

Quimbo said that their committee is delighted, especially the chairman, Congressman Elizaldy Co., because the members have been active and scrutinized the proposed budget of government agencies.
