The House of Representatives formally requested the Senate for a work and holding area for its Prosecution panel and Secretariat Support Group (SSG) during Vice President (VP) Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
In a letter penned on March 5, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco asked Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero that the room assignments provided be utilized as a work and holding area, for the House Public Prosecutors and the SSG.
Velasco also requested an ocular inspection of the room assignments on Tuesday, March 11. This was to determine if the rooms provided would be a comfortable and convenient working environment for the Public Prosecutors and the SSG.
Additionally, the report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan stated that Velasco’s request is part of the Congress’ duties and preparation for the looming impeachment trial. This comes after they formally sent the Articles of Impeachment against VP Duterte in February.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Martin Romualdez acknowledged Escudero’s receipt of letter, last February 24, concerning the Verified Complaint for Impeachment against VP Duterte, including the preparations undertaken by the Senate.
“The House of Representatives trusts that the proceedings will be conducted with fairness, impartiality, and strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution,” Romualdez said.
Last February 24, Escudero also sent a letter to VP Duterte, outlining the timetable and preparations for the impeachment trial.
