Political parties in the House of Representatives agreed to reallocate the confidential and intelligence fund for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) following China’s aggressiveness towards the West Philippine Sea (WPS), which includes the laying of a floating barrier at Bajo de Masinloc.
The CIF reallocation also covers the National Security Council (NSC), National Intelligence Agency, and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
In the joint statement, the party leaders expressed concern with China’s "barriers,” which they said hindered the rights of Filipino fishermen and threatened peace in the region.
They also praised the PCG for its diplomatic action and its dedication to protecting the interests of the Philippines and standing up for the rights of Filipino fishermen.
