The official website of the House of Representatives has been "fully restored and operational" following the hacking, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said on Monday, Oct. 16.
"We are pleased to announce the official website of the House of Representatives is now fully restored and operational," he said in an official statement.
Velasco said "comprehensive measure to enhance" House's website has been placed.
He said they continuously collaborate closely with relevant law enforcement agencies to probe the "unauthorized access."
"Our aim is to identify and prosecute those responsible for this breach to the fullest extent of the law," the House Secretary-General said.
He thanked the public "for their patience and understanding during the brief interruption."
"We remain committed to transparency and open communication, and we have fortified our digital platforms to prevent such incidents in the future," Velasco said.
The House Secretary-General assured further that "the safety and security" of their "digital resources remain a top priority."
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) confirmed that a cybersecurity incident occurred on the lower house's website.
"We are in constant communication and coordination with the HOR and are currently investigating the extent of the said incident. We shall provide further updates to the public as soon they become available," it said.
On Sunday, Oct. 15, a certain "3MUSKETEERZ" hacked the lower house's official website.
Under the photo journal section, a troll photo with the text “you’ve been hacked. you’ve been hacked. have a nice day” was uploaded
