House Secretary General Reginald Velasco on Wednesday, Nov. 15, said they directed the Land Transporation Office (LTO) and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to apprehend the erring driver with plate number 8 along EDSA bus lane.
"I am seeking representation with the Land Transporation Office and the Metro Manila Development Authority to apprehend the drivers of vehicles bearing "8" plates and confiscate the expired or spurious plates," he said in an official statement.
According to Velasco, House members are not authorized with official vehicle plates.
"The House of Representatives has not released, or authorized the use of, official plates for vehicles of House members," he said.
In a report by RH Val Gonzales, MMDA personnel apprehended two cars with plate number 8 for passing the exclusive EDSA busway.
No congressman was present and only the vehicle drivers were reportedly caught and were mandated to pay a fine of P5,000.
