MANILA – The Department of Tourism (DOT) joins the nation in celebrating the Philippines’ bid to host the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in 2025, committing its full support to ensure the successful hosting of the country.
After undergoing a painstaking evaluation process, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and Volleyball World have chosen the Philippines as the host country for the prestigious event.
In a statement, DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that she believes the hosting of event will strengthen the country’s sport tourism portfolio.
"The Philippines’ hosting of this global volleyball event bolsters our sports tourism portfolio, driving economic growth, and highlighting the country’s diverse array of tourism offerings that promise a truly unforgettable Philippine Experience,” Secretary Frasco said.
Apart from the hosting, Frasco is positive that the event will put the country’s top tourism destinations in the spotlight, under the “Love the Philippines” promotional campaign.
“"We are eager to showcase to the international volleyball community the many reasons to Love the Philippines: from our award-winning destinations, our mega biodiversity, our deep well of culture and heritage, the tapestry of traditions and talents across our islands, and the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people. We reiterate the Department of Tourism’s full support and commitment to ensure the successful hosting of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Championship in 2025,” the Tourism Chief reiterated.
Together with Philippine Senator Pia Cayetano, Philippine Volleyball Federation and other stakeholders, Frasco reiterated the full support and commitment of the DOT to ensure the successful hosting of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball Championship in 2025.
Meanwhile, the volleyball championship is expected to converge the world’s top 32 volleyball teams in the country on September 12 to 28, 2025.
According to the DOT, the department has “consistently championed sports tourism by supporting major events such as the Iron Man Philippines: Rock n Roll Manila, the 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M5 World Championship, and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.”
