Senator Risa Hontiveros warned travelers to expect longer queues at airports as the new travel guidelines are implemented by the Inter-Agency Against Trafficking (IACAT) to fight against crime, which will take effect on September 3.
Despite the commendation for IACAT’s initiative as headed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Hontiveros said that the passengers, whose presented documents are correct and complete, will be greatly affected.
This is the reason the senator warns departing tourists to expect delays at the immigration counters.
However, based on the guidelines imposed by the IACAT, it requests passengers’ proof of hotel accommodation, which will need clarification.
Hontiveros also pointed out that the public would not have difficulties with the requested document—a notarized affidavit of support and guarantee—for the passengers.
She added that the 45-second questioning for the passengers may not happen due to the documents needed to be checked by the immigration officer.
