Senator Risa Hontiveros has urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to revoke the firearm license of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, a wanted fugitive in the country.
In a video statement posted on Monday, April 15, Hontiveros said the PNP should not hesitate to recall the gun permit of Quiboloy.
"Alam na ng lahat sa social media na may private army siya, pero bakit parang nagbulag-bulagan sila? The PNP should do better," she continued.
The senator urged newly-appointed PNP chief PGen. Rommel Marbil to "step up" their search to arrest the religious pastor who is facing charges of qualified human trafficking and child abuse.
"There could be a failure of intelligence. If it is taking this long to locate the whereabouts of Quiboloy. Dalawang warrants of arrest na ang na-isyu pero hindi pa naaresto," she pointed out.
Hontiveros stressed that Quiboloy and his private army are threats "to peace and order in the country."
Israelito Torreon, one of Quiboloy's legal counsel, earlier told DZRH that his client is not hiding and is presently in the country.
The religious pastor, a self-proclaimed "appointed son of God" was last spotted with former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in a gathering last March.
