Senator Risa Hontiveros urged the Bureau of Immigration (BI), along with other law enforcers, to immediately identify who helped Atty. Harry Roque escaped the Philippines undetected.
On Wednesday, Hontiveros pointed out that there’s a huge possibility that POGO actors helped Roque escape, considering that he flew to Dubai.
“The BI still has a lot of explaining to do. Kahit ang pagtakas ni Guo Hua Ping papuntang Indonesia, wala pa rin silang sagot kung paano nangyari,” Hontiveros said.
Moreover, the senator mentioned how ordinary Filipinos have a difficult time in Immigration when traveling to another country. Meanwhile, fugitives like Roque have no difficulty getting through it.
“Kapag mga ordinaryong Pilipino na lumalabas ng bansa, pahirapan sa Immigration, pero kapag mga pugante, tila ang dali makalusot,” she said.
Despite POGO being banned in the country, Hontiveros fears that it still influences some institutions, especially with Immigration.
Roque confirmed on Tuesday that he filed and had his counter affidavit notarized overseas.
In response, the BI said that they are eyeing to file charges against Roque over the allegations that he escaped through unlawful means.
