Senator Risa Hontiveros issued a warning on Friday regarding edited photos circulating online that falsely claim she is friends with dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
In a social media post, Hontiveros denounced the photos as fake and urged social media platforms to take action against misleading AI-generated content.
''Wala akong kaibigan na pekeng Pil. ???? Mag-ingat po sa mga edited photos online na magkasama kami diumano at magkaibigan daw kami. THIS IS FAKE,'' Hontiveros stated.
She also called on major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, to enhance their moderation of AI-generated content.
Guo has been connected to an illicit POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac, which was recently raided by local authorities.
In June, the Department of the Interior and Local Government pressed graft charges against her related to these activities. Additionally, her identity and citizenship were scrutinized during Senate hearings on illegal POGOs.
Guo’s name was added to the immigration lookout bulletin to track her movements and ties to the illegal POGO operations.
Early this week, Senator Hontiveros disclosed that Guo managed to exit the country in July and will spearhead the Senate's probe into Guo's departure.
Philippine authorities have confirmed that Guo is still in Indonesia and has not attempted to leave the country.
