Over 500 residents of the Municipal town of General Luna in Quezon Province joined the annual &ldquo;Parada ng Penitensya&rdquo; or "Procession of Penitence" on Good Friday, April 7.
&ldquo;Parada ng Penitensya&rdquo; has been a Lenten tradition in General Luna as people believed that cutting their backs with blades until it bleeds and slapping this using a whip and roach is a way to atone for their sins, cure their illnesses, or grant their wishes. &nbsp;

Apart from the flagellation, residents also impersonated Centurion or the Romans, Jesus carrying the cross along with the two other criminals who were also sentenced to crucifixion.
