Authorities will deploy a special unit called “Hijos-Pulis” to enhance security during the upcoming Traslacion 2026 festivities in Manila.

At a briefing held at Camp Crame, Manila Police District Director PBGen. Arnold Abad said that the unit will consist of around 800 MPD personnel who are also devotees, working alongside the Hijos del Nazareno to assist in crowd management along the procession route.

The “Hijos-Pulis” are currently undergoing training, supervised by church personnel from Quiapo, to prepare them for their duties on January 9.

They will form part of the overall 18,212 police officers and force multipliers tasked with ensuring the safety of participants during one of the country’s largest religious events.
