Both ropes from the andas have reportedly snapped, as the sacred image made its way to the San Sebastian Church on Thursday evening.
According to a report by DZRH Operation Tulong Federico Manalili, the Hijos del Nazareno are now manually pushing the carriage headed to Quiapo Church, causing a slight delay in the procession.
Additionally, Silgen Cabrito of the Quiapo Church’s Social Communications Department also confirmed the setback, stating that the rope snapped on the way to Ayala Boulevard earlier today.
“Confirm[ed] na k[a]ninang um[a]ga ay naputol ang lubid sa may pagtawid ng Finance Road pa-Ayala blvd,” Cabrito told reporters through Viber.
Earlier today, the Manila Police District (MPD) Chief PBGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay told reporters that the andas was losing its balance because one of the ropes used to pull the carriage had snapped.
"Putol 'yung isang lubid kaya wala na ring balanse. Isa na lang 'yung nahihila. Talagang humihina rin 'yung lubid na iyon. Napuputol dahil sa dami na rin ng humihila,” he said.
The Nazareno Command Center confirmed that both ropes have snapped, and are manually being pushed by the hijos and devotees.
“Confirmed po wala nang lubid ang humahatak sa andas kundi more on tulak nalang po ito,” the Command Center said, as quoted by Cabrito.
This year’s Traslacion is taking longer compared to the previous years, as the andas reached the San Sebastian Church for the traditional dungaw, at around 5:45 PM.
On Thursday afternoon, Ibay said that the MPD estimates that Traslacion 2025 may take more than 17 hours.
