Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Ralph Recto believes that the government's aid is being felt by most Filipino families, contributing to a high approval rating for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
He stated that this is one reason why President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s approval rating remains high despite inflation concerns in the country.
“The inflation is at number one concern. If you take a look at the different progress of government, ang rate ng taumbayan doon ay maganda ang approval rating sa iba’t-ibang programa ng ating pangulo,” Recto said during a press briefing in Malacañang on Tuesday.
Recto made the statement when asked about his assessment of the government's response to inflation. According to him, the government has implemented numerous social programs, nearly half of all Filipino families are benefiting from them.
He cited the 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program), the cash assistance for low-income individuals (AKAP), the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), and the Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP), which he noted have a combined value of over P500 billion.
Recto noted that since these programs are aimed at mitigating the effects of inflation, the general public in the Philippines views not only the president favorably but also the entire administration.
Meanwhile, according to the latest Tangere survey, Marcos's ratings continue to rise, with his satisfaction and trust ratings increasing from August to September.
