Former Negros Oriental governor Pryde Henry Teves on Wednesday, Nov. 8, announced that he filed a Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the position of 3rd Congressional District representative in Negros Oriental.
Henry made the announcement in a post on his official Facebook page.
"This morning November 8, 2023, we have take heed to the call of our constituents, together with my beloved wife and supporters, [I] have filed my Certificate of Candidacy for Congressman for the 3rd Congressional District of the Province of Negros Oriental. May the Almighty God bless our commitment to serve," he said.&nbsp;
Henry is the brother of Arnolfo &lsquo;Arnie&rsquo; Teves Jr., who vacated the Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative post after the<a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/lower-house-expels-teves"> lower house expelled him </a>due to disorderly behavior.
In August this year, the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) <a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/act-designates-suspended-cong.-teves-as-terrorist">tagged Henry, Arnie, and 11 other individuals as terrorists.</a>

Aside from Henry, incumbent Mayor of Bacong, Negros Oriental Lenin Alviola filed his candidacy today at the Commission on Election (Comelec) - Negros Oriental office.&nbsp;

Retired Colonel Rey Lopez was first to submitt his COC for the position on Tuesday, Nov. 7, according to RH Boy Gonzales' <a href="https://x.com/dzrhnews/status/1721775180207542670?s=20">report in Rapido Hataw Balita</a>.&nbsp;
The poll body has <a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/no-candidates-filed-coc-in-negros-oriental-for-special-election">extended the period of candidacy filing</a> until Saturday, Nov. 11.
Comelec chairman George Garcia said no other extension would be made.
"Wala na pong extension yan. Nov. 6 to 11 lamang ang filing ng candidacy, with or without anybody filing their COC, wala pong extension," he told reporters in a press briefing.
The special election in Negros Oriental 3rd District <a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/special-elections-for-negros-oriental">is slated on Dec. 9</a>, and the poll will be held manually.&nbsp;
