Who’s up for a new pop punk anthem?
For those wishing for a new anthem that carries that nostalgic essence of being emo and young, then you’ll definitely want to stay.
On Tuesday, May 6, Avril Lavigne announced that she is releasing a new song for the tour. Due to the success of last year’s Greatest Hits Tour, they have decided to extend it for another round this summer. The best part? The pop punk princess is dropping her song “Young & Dumb,” featuring Simple Plan, just in time for the tour!
“It's really a full circle moment because not only did they tour with me last year on the Greatest Hits tour but we also toured together in 2003 on my first arena tour, when I was 18 and touring my first album ‘Let Go’,” the singer wrote in a social media post. “We were so young, all from small towns in Canada, and put our first albums out at the same time. We became friends right away.”
Avril said she contacted the band members a few months ago and asked them to join her in the studio to write their upcoming song.
“We wanted the song to capture the nostalgic feelings of this unique moment in our lives when we were both just starting out and chasing our dreams. We wanted our fans to know that in our hearts, we’re still the same kids we were back then and that our love for music has never changed,” the musician stated.
“This song is about our friendship and how music has kept us connected all these years. The song is about feeling nostalgic, while loving where you are right now,” she continued.
They also announced the song’s release date on Avril’s TikTok page.

The singer wrote that their upcoming song is dedicated to their fans, especially those who have been with them for over 20 years.
“To everyone who’s ready to wake up the punk rock kid that's still inside you, ready to live your best life and sing your heart out. We dedicate this song to you guys,” she said.
“Young & Dumb,” featuring Simple Plan, will be released on May 9.
