Good news for all students this school year, because the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the student discount for LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 rides had been increased to 50% starting Friday, June 20.
According to the DOTr, the increased discount for students is aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive.
“Ang 50% student discount ay applicable rin sa mga estudyanteng naka-enroll sa postgraduate studies at magagamit sa train lines araw-araw, kahit Sabado, Linggo o holiday,” the DOTr said in a social media post.
To avail of the discount, students must present their valid ID within the current school year. This applies to all students, including those taking up postgraduate studies.
The DOTr noted that the promo will be valid for Single Journey tickets only and is not applicable for Beep Cards or stored-value tickets.
With this, students must buy the tickets at the ticket counter to avail of the promo.
