Harry Roque criticized the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee on its political inquiry against POGOs and the extrajudicial killings during former President Rodrigo Duterte's term.
In a Facebook post on Friday, September 13, Roque claimed that he is not the lawyer for Lucky South 99. Despite this, he said that the Quad Comm continued to ‘power trip’ and ‘politically harass’ him.
He furthered that the Committee required him to submit personal documents not related to the ongoing POGO inquisition. According to him, the corporations were established in 2014, eight years before his ties with Whirlwind Corporation began.
“Isa itong fishing expedition. Dahil wala nga silang makitang matibay na ebidensiya na mag-uugnay sa akin sa ilegal na POGO, tinangka nilang lumambat ng ebidensya na tutugma sa kanilang kwento. at kahit isumite ko ang kanilang hinihiling na mga dokumento, hahanap at hahanap pa rin sila ng paraan para ako ay madiin,” his statement read.
Roque went on to critique the Committee's ongoing probe, saying that it already has a narrative in mind.
“I no longer expect truth and fairness from a Kangaroo Court called QuadComm. Mas pinili ko nang huwag na akong humarap sa kangaroo hearings ng QuadComm,” he said.
Roque also wrote that the hearing is a violation against his right to privacy and ruins his relationship with his family. Due to this, he decided not to appear before the Quad Committee hearings until the issues laid against him have been brought to the HIghest Court for judicial determination.
Roque was cited in contempt by the House panel during its fifth joint hearing on Thursday, September 12, over his refusal to comply with the subpoena.
