Former Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque took to social media to respond to the Supreme Court's decision to reject his petition for a writ of amparo against the House of Representatives' Quad-Committee, affirming that he accepts and respects the ruling.
“Bilang isang abogado, bilang isang officer of the court, ginagalang ko po ‘yang pagbabasura ng Korte Suprema sa writ of amparo. Bagamat umaasa pa rin po kami na titignan pa rin ng hukuman yung merito doon naman sa aming petisyon ng certiorari at prohibition,” Roque said in a video message on October 1.
He noted that he accepts the decision with humility, but he is still hopeful that the Court will review his remaining petitions, especially regarding the Quad Committee’s investigation, which he asserts is no longer aimed at legislation.
Additionally, he expressed his hope that the House of Representatives will submit its comment within the timeframe set by the Court so that his pending petition can be resolved promptly.
“Kung ano man ang maging desisyon [ng korte] na ‘yan, asahan niyo po na susunod tayo pero hayaan niyo naman po na magkaroon ng desisyon ang hukuman at sana nga po ay sa madaling panahon ay magkaroon ng desisyon ang hukuman dyan sa petition for certiorari and prohibition," said Roque.
Roque then expressed his appreciation to his daughter Bianca for her unwavering commitment and perseverance in defending his freedom.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court denied Roque's request for a writ of amparo, stating that it is not the appropriate remedy for his situation. The court then instructed the Quad-Committee to respond to the prohibition petition filed by Roque within 10 days of receiving the Court's resolution.
Roque is being pursued by the House for failing to submit the required documents related to his assets.
